JIS hex nut (Type 3)

A JIS hex nut is a standardized fastening component widely used in mechanical engineering and construction. It has a hexagonal shape with standardized dimensions, material, and strength classification. It is used in combination with bolts to secure components and is typically tightened using a spanner (wrench).

Type 3 is chamfered on both sides and has a lower height compared to Type 1 and Type 2. It is also known as a jam nut (thin nut).

The nut height is approximately 0.6 × the nominal thread diameter (≈ 0.6D).
