JIS hex nut (Type 2)

A JIS hex nut is a standardized fastening component widely used in mechanical engineering and construction. It has a hexagonal shape with standardized geometry, dimensions, material, and strength class. It is used together with bolts to secure components and is typically tightened using a spanner (wrench).

Type 2 is chamfered on both sides. This is also the most commonly used configuration for hex nuts outside Japan.

The nut height is approximately ≈ 0.8 times the nominal thread diameter.
