Countersunk screws are small screws with a flat head and a conical seating surface, designed so that the head is flush with the material when fastened.

They are primarily used when the screw head should not protrude or when a flat fastening surface is desired.

The outer diameter of the countersunk head of a JIS countersunk screw is twice the screw diameter.
